Introducing: Improved Request Fulfillment Flow

At Dwolla we are all about making the process of sending or receiving money super simple. With simplicity in mind, we are excited to release a new and improved request fulfillment flow that removes extra steps for the person money is being requested from.

Below is an example of what the email will look like to the recipient when the request for funds is sent via Dwolla.com or our Request feature in the API.

Added into the request email you will now see the notes field:

“This month’s rent for 123 Main St. is due, thanks!”

If the user who you are requesting money from has a Dwolla account, they can click Pay Now and simply input their Dwolla credentials, confirm the funding source and submit the payment.

The payment request will be fulfilled in a matter of seconds, without the request recipient ever logging in to Dwolla.com. If the payee would like to make changes to the amount being requested, they can log in to their account and edit the payment amount then submit the payment.

If the person from whom you are requesting funds does not have a Dwolla account, they can begin the process of setting up a Dwolla Direct account once they click the Pay Now button.

1. Create your Dwolla login credentials.

2. Search for your financial institution.

3. Securely connect your financial institution by providing your online banking credentials.

4. Choose the bank or credit union account you would like to use to fund the payment request.

5. Review and submit the payment.

From there, all subsequent requests can be fulfilled by simply clicking Pay Now, providing your Dwolla credentials, and submitting the payment.

The ease of fulfilling payment requests is simplified, and the numbers speak for themselves. Since the rollout of this improved payment request fulfillment process, we’ve seen a 20% increase in the amount of successful completions of requests.

Even more awesome, we’ve added the ability for you to attach files to the request. As an example, you have an invoice that you want to send to the individual/business. During the process of sending your request from dwolla.com you can attach a file and that file will be sent directly to the receiver via email.

How to send online invoices with Dwolla

Are you tired of sending paper invoices to clients, or spending too much on monthly payments and processing fees associated with complicated accounting software?

I’ll walk you through just how simple it is to send a payment request with Dwolla, as well as how to send multiple payment requests with our Dwolla MassRequest tool.

Online invoicing has never been so easy or affordable.

Sending a Single Electronic Invoice

1. Log in and choose the ‘Request’ option at the top left of your Dwolla dashboard.

Request Money

2. Specify whom you would like to request money from by typing in their Dwolla ID, email address, or phone number, as well as the amount and additional notes.

Invoice Information

3. Upload a document or invoice to send along with your request for payment (optional).

Uploading an Invoice

4. After you’ve submitted your request, pending invoices can be found underneath the Requests tab, nested under Activity.

Requests Page

5. By clicking on the Details link next to the Request, you’ll be able to view information such as the status of the request, the document(s) attached to the request, and the request ID. You’ll also be presented with the option to cancel the request.

Request Details

Follow these simple steps, and you’ve just sent an electronic invoice with Dwolla!

Sending a Dwolla MassRequest

For multiple requests, I’ll run through how you can use our Dwolla MassRequest tool.

1. Fill out a CSV file with the email addresses of the people you are requesting from and amount requested. You have the option to add notes, but this field is not required.

MassRequest CSV

2. Log in to massrequest.dwollalabs.com with your Dwolla account credentials. The next step will be to add your reporting email (the email you would like to have your MassRequest report and status sent to) and to upload the CSV file you just created.

Uploading a MassRequest

3. Define the columns of your CSV file with Source ID (the person you are requesting from), amount, and notes.

Define Request Information

4. Confirm the MassRequest job.

Confirm Mass Request

You’ll get an email notifying you of your MassRequest status and details sent to the reporting email you specified in step 2.
